Kai Rost\u00e1sy worked his way up from a trainee in at ARRI Camera Rental and Laboratory in Munich to a 2nd AC. As 1st Camera Assistant Kai spent the next 6 years working with many German and international DoPs on commercials and features such as K. Eichhammer ( \u201cDie Apothekerin\u201d directed by R. Kaufmann , \u201c23\u201d directed by H. C. Schmid ) and J\u00fcrgen J\u00fcrges (\u201cWege in die Nacht\u201d, \u201cQuiero Ser\u201d).
\nIn 2000 he took up cinematography studies at the University of Hamburg (Hamburg Media School). He finished the 2-year program with a diploma and the film \u201eDie Katze von Altona\u201d which won many festival prizes.
\nIn 2002 he shot the semi-documentary feature film „Andiamo!“ and in 2007 the low-budget feature film „Lunik“ starring Anna-Marie M\u00fche and Torsten Merten.
\nIn 2008 he gained experience as Operator (1st Unit B-Cam) on the Warner \/ Wachowski Bros. produced action film \u201eNinja Assassin\u201d directed by J. McTeigue, shot at Babelsberg Studios. Followed by many 2nd Unit Dop and B-Cam engagements on films like „Die Unsichtbaren“, „Das Leben der Wunderlichs“ amongst many others.
\n2012 his feature film \u201cF\u00fcr Elise\u201d directed by W. Dinslage won the competition of the 8th festival of german films in Ludwigshafen a. R. and was released in the theater. Actress Christina Grosse was nominated for the German Film Prize Lola.
\nIn 2020-21 he shot almost 100 viral sport clips and directed more than 30 for kids, who had to stay at home during the corona lockdown produced by the Alba Berlin basketball club and is still directing educational sports films.
\nMost recently Kai shot the feature film „Biscuit Tin Blues“ directed by Jack Rath, which won the Feature Film Competition at the Soundscreen Festival \/ Ravenna ( Italy ), was invited to the prestigous 60th Solothurner Filmtagen ( Switzerland ) and the IRMF Festival Pilsen \/ CZ in 2025.
\nPresently based in Berlin and member of the German Society of Cinematographers, bvk, Kai is shooting features, documentaries, commercials, corporate films and music videos.<\/td>\n		name KAI ROSTASY
